2007 Global Survey of Youth Attitudes towards Citizenship and Identity in the 21st Century
This survey is intended to take the pulse of how youth (under the age of 24) in different parts of the world think and feel about issues of cultural, social, and economic identity. The goals are (a) to determine to what extent youth from different regions identify with cultural/social/economic factors that are outside their national borders; and (b) to collect information that will help inform the development of new global citizenship education curricula and materials.
A similar survey was administered in 2006. The results of that survey served as a pilot for this year's "Our World" project and helped shape and improve the current survey. This year's project aims to expand the scope of areas targeted and to increase the number of responses in order to come up with a larger and more representative dataset. As well as to improve the analyses mechanisms to gain a more in depth understanding of the results
The Survey is sponsored by Our World, an alliance of organizations working on youth and global citizenship education in different countries (www.ourworldgce.net). An international NGO, Education Development Center (EDC) serves as the Secretariat for this Consortium. Our World youth survey partner organizations include Alice O, The Dutch National Youth Council, Global Youth Council, Global Youth Action Networks, iEARN, Taking IT Global, and UNICEF.
*It takes approximately fifteen minutes to answer all the questions. There are no right or wrong answers!
*There is also an optional comment section at the end if you want to elaborate on your thoughts and views.
